Background

RR Donnelley provides billing fulfilment services to some of the world's best-known household names. During 2006, in order to improve efficiency and flexibility, the company decided to move much of its production capacity from Hungerford in West Berkshire to Tewkesbury in Gloucestershire.

Extensive interior redevelopment was necessary at both sites. At Hungerford, facilities from three buildings needed to be rehoused within one, while at Tewkesbury, a large new mezzanine floor was required, to provide additional production space.

The company asked Newbury Commercial Interiors to handle the work, pleased with projects that the interior specialist had completed for them over a period of several years.

• Advise on design options
• Strip out old fittings
• Install partitions and ceilings
• Install lighting, power and air conditioning plant
• Fit out new computer server room
• Install data and telephone cabling
• Remove existing staircase
• Install new staircase in new location

Critical issues

RR Donnelley's agreement with their landlord in Hungerford meant that the work needed to be completed to tight deadlines. One of the two surplus units in Hungerford had to be vacated by 7th March 2007, and the other by 21st April.
