Making health & safety pay

It's a fact. Your business will benefit financially if you establish more efficient safety practices. The HSE explains how you can achieve this in their latest publication - Making Health and Safety Pay. By using case studies the guidance shows how health and safety improvements can bring substantial cost savings by reducing:-
- Minor accidents
- Downtime
- Long-term illness
- Absenteeism
- Reported injuries
- Insurance claims and premiums
The St Regis Paper Company, for example, saved £100,000 a year for the past five years by reducing days lost to absenteeism, accident investigation and downtime. This was achieved through improved safety training, fitting machinery guards, appointing safety representatives and working with the HSE and trade union.
