Welcome! ...to New Interiors, the bi-monthly email newsletter from Newbury Interiors.

As the year draws to a close, indications show that the UK economic slowdown is worsening and that we will enter 2009 officially in recession. There are undoubtedly serious challenges for business in the year ahead so New Interiors takes a moment this issue to look at what companies can do to survive the economic downturn. On a more cheerful note, our product highlight this month is the colourful, fun "Jaks" - an inventive cross-shaped seat for break-out areas. And Newbury Interiors has been involved in a number of important new office moves recently. Here we highlight the light airy offices we created for Spie Matthew Hall.

Finally, let me wish you a very happy and hopefully prosperous 2009.

New Interiors comes to you without charge or obligation. If you like it, please tell your colleagues so they can receive it too. Details on how to subscribe and unsubscribe are at the end of each issue.

Wishing you every success,

Chris Chamberlain
Managing Director

P.S. Don't let work pressures get on top of you like the man in the YouTube clip below!

Surviving a downturn

Surviving a Downturn

In the current global economic climate, with banks less accommodating to increase overdraft or loan facilities, it will be a case of the survival of the fittest for many companies. Prime Chartered Accountants is therefore highlighting four fundamental aspects of business that companies should be focussing on in order to survive the credit crunch.

  • Managing money - good financial planning
  • Keeping tight control of cash-flow
  • Looking ahead at forward orders - consider carefully future customers' ability to pay
  • Staffing issues - critically evaluating your staffing requirements

These are all important issues that are interlinked and fundamental to business success in challenging times.
