New 'smoke free' rules

Innovative Osso from Luconi

On 1st July 2007 the new Smoke Free regulations come into force. It will become an offence to smoke in most public places, including most business premises and vehicles. Employers will have to display no smoking signs on their premises.

There will be other obligations too: now is the time to start planning. Here is a range of useful resources to help you understand the requirements, and meet them.

Italian glass partition manufacturer Luconi's range includes the innovative Osso System: glass partitions hung from vertical bearing bars, located by pressure fit between floor and ceiling.

Requiring no drilling or screwing to the floor, the system is ideal for listed buildings and similar applications. A range of accessories is available, including extension bars, half-foot wall bars for shelving and plasma screens, a sliding door mechanism, shelves and storage boxes.

    Greening your furniture

    More than skin deep

With environmental sustainability increasingly a key issue in a wide variety of business decisions, eco-friendly furniture designs are an interesting and often preferable alternative to more conventional items.

When selecting furnishings, consider refurbished items, or new pieces specifically designed for low environmental impact. As well as helping to protect the environment, such an approach can bring with it valuable PR opportunities, reinforcing your company's 'green credentials'.

The Chiltern Medical Clinic's new centre in Goring, Oxfordshire, was little more than a shell when the cosmetic dermatology specialists called on Newbury Interiors to handle the necessary refurbishments.

Partitioning, wiring and decorating the building's interior, Newbury Interiors created a light, airy and welcoming environment for the Clinic's patients. This case study tells the story of this recent project, where the work definitely went more than skin deep.
